Quiz Check

The Quiz check looks over your quiz while you build it and tells you about anything that would lose shoppers: questions that can't be answered, routes through the quiz that end with no products, setup that does nothing, and a few tips for a better quiz. It follows every path a shopper can take, including your filters, price ranges, exclusions and skip or jump logic, against the products you have in stock.

Opening the Quiz check

Click Quiz check in the builder's top bar. The panel opens on the right, where the store products usually are (click Products in its header to go back). On smaller screens it opens as a drawer.

The button itself shows the result at a glance, so you can keep an eye on it without opening the panel. The check runs again a moment after every change, saved or not. It only reads your quiz: it never changes anything, and a red result never stops you publishing.

The result

At the top of the panel is the overall result, with an icon and a word so it never depends on colour alone:

  • Looks good (green) — nothing to fix
  • Could be better (orange) — two or more things worth a look
  • Needs fixing (red) — at least one problem that loses shoppers
  • Partly checked (grey) — nothing found in what could be checked, but some checks couldn't run (for example the quiz has so many answer combinations that not every route could be followed)

Below it, the findings are grouped:

Breaks the quiz

  • The quiz has no questions
  • A question has no answers, or asks for more picks than it has answers
  • A question or answer has no text
  • All your products are out of stock

No results

  • A route where no product gets a single vote
  • An answer whose filter or price range only covers products that are out of stock
  • Answers that, picked together, leave no product (for example a filter and a price range nothing fits)

Wasted setup

  • A question no shopper ever sees, because every route skips or jumps past it
  • Skip or jump logic that points backwards, so it does nothing (this often happens after reordering questions)
  • Votes, filters or pinned products pointing at a collection, tag or product that's no longer in your store
  • In-stock products that can never be recommended: no answer gives them a vote, or every route filters them out

Advice

  • The quiz is long (a shopper can answer more than 8 questions)
  • The results show more than 8 products (3 to 8 works best)
  • Shoppers must give an email before the first question
  • A multiple-select question has no "None of these" option
  • A question uses the Icons or Images style but some answers have no picture

Each finding says what happens to shoppers and how to fix it. Click Show me to open the question, answer or screen it's about. Some findings also have Show the list (for example the products affected, or the answers on a route). Each group can also show its passed checks, so you can see what was checked.

Closest matches

If your results screen uses Relax last filter (the default no-results fallback), a route that matches nothing exactly still shows shoppers your closest matches. The Quiz check marks those routes orange, as worth a look rather than a problem. Routes that stay empty even with every filter relaxed stay red.

Ana can run it for you

In the builder, ask Ana to "check my quiz and fix the most important problem". She runs the same check, explains what she found and makes the fixes, which stay unsaved until you save.
